The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. It uses a timer to break work into focused intervals (traditionally 25 minutes) called "pomodoros," separated by short breaks (5 minutes). After four pomodoros, you take a longer break (15-30 minutes). This technique combats procrastination, maintains focus, and prevents burnout by creating a rhythm of concentrated work and deliberate rest. Studies show that regular breaks improve productivity and cognitive performance.
Set your work duration (default 25 minutes) and break duration (default 5 minutes).
Click "Start" to begin your first pomodoro session.
Focus entirely on your task until the timer rings.
Take a short break when prompted, then start the next pomodoro.
After 4 pomodoros, enjoy a longer break (15-30 minutes).
25 minutes is long enough to make meaningful progress but short enough to maintain intense focus. However, you can customize the duration to match your personal focus patterns โ many people prefer 30, 45, or 50-minute intervals.
